Dj Roc Raida. R.I.P.

According to Busta Rhymes’ Twitter feed, personal DJ and legendary figure, Roc Raida passed away early Saturday (September 19) afternoon. While logistics regarding his sudden death are still a mystery, the cause may stem from Raida’s car accident earlier this month where the DJ suffered from severe spine injuries.
Busta twittered earlier today, “I am sorry 2 say that on this day at 2:05 Sept 19th we lost another incredible life…Dj Roc Raida died 2day my personal Dj is gone… I just wanna thank everyone 4 ur love and support and ur prayers…We will never let ur name die Roc…We love u and will 4ever miss u…RIP.”
Roc Raida was not only an important figure and personal friend to Busta Rhymes, but to the entire hip hop culture as well. He became part of the DJ’ing conglomerate, The X-Ecutioners in the 80’s and was crowned “Grandmaster” during the DMC World Championship in 1995. He later would be inducted into the DMC Hall Of Fame in 1999.
To date, he’s released 6 solo LP’s and 6 more with The X-Ecutioners. Not only was Raida one of hip hop’s finest turntable assassins, but he’s produced records for Busta Rhymes, Big L, Ghostface, Big Pun, Jungle Brothers and Linkin Park.

This is interesting, its a new sound with some serial lyrical heavyweights. I actually heard the one, one of their singles playing on rock stations, and not on any hip hop stations.. Slaughterhouse for the win -- can you say crossover?


Slaughterhouse is a Hip Hop group consisting of rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9". The group formed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9" appeared on the song "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden's album Halfway House. They took their name from the song. The group released their debut full-length album August 11, 2009 on the label E1 Music (formerly Koch Records).[1]. Coinciding with the album release the members have or are planning to release solo material to generate buzz for themselves and the group.[2] This will include a late summer tour as well as a spot on the annual "Rock the Bells" tour.[3] The group is notable for the lyrical abilities of all four members and their large internet following.[4]
